As general manager Brandon Beane acknowledged this week during his press conference ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft, the defensive tackle position is a big question mark for the Buffalo Bills after this season.

The team doesn’t have any players under contract past this season including Ed Oliver, who was the ninth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and is looking for a new contract. However, the team seems to be prepared to have Oliver go into the season without a new deal. This is certainly a risk because if he has a big year he will get a bigger contract than Buffalo can afford.

The other defensive tackles on the roster include DaQuan Jones and Jordan Phillips, two defensive tackles who have been productive but are getting older and are not necessarily long-term answers. The fourth defensive tackle is Tim Settle, who was a free agent signing last offseason but didn’t live up to expectations in his first season in Buffalo.

While the position looks to be fine for the upcoming season, the Buffalo Bills are probably strongly considering drafting a defensive tackle this year. These are four defensive tackles that could be great selections in the 2023 NFL Draft to be eventual replacements for Ed Oliver.
