Con: Buffalo Bills and Devin White would need to negotiate a new contract

The final con of a potential trade for Devin White, and this certainly would be discussed prior to a completed trade, is the two sides would need to agree to a new deal. This is one of the reasons that Devin White has requested a trade is that he is entering the fifth-year option and hopes to secure a new deal this offseason.

The Buffalo Bills just lost Tremaine Edmunds this offseason because they were unable to reach a new contract. While they were not in a position to offer the contract the Bears offered, it remains to be seen how close Devin White’s contract demands would be to Edmunds.

Another big question is whether or not the Buffalo Bills would want to commit a long-term deal to a player that doesn’t have any experience in this defense. It could make more sense to draft a linebacker on Day 2 that would be better for the salary cap than commit to such a big contract to a player like Devin White.
