Skill players the Buffalo Bills should trade up for: Jaxon Smith-Njigba, WR, Ohio State
The second player Buffalo could trade up for might just be the best overall wide receiver in the draft. Ohio State’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba was the forgotten man for a few months, after he missed the majority of last season due to injury.
However, last time we saw him on the field for a full season in 2021, he was dominating. Not only was he dominating, he was doing so while sharing the field with Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson. Smith-Njigba posted over 1,600 yards receiving that season while splitting targets with two first-round receivers as teammates. That’s quite impressive.
Smith-Njigba could be argued as the best overall route runner and separator in the draft, purely based off the fact that he understands himself in different spaces. He’s able to get himself open at every level of the field, and works with his quarterback to allow a scramble drill to be pulled off.
Josh Allen would love having another guy similar to Stefon Diggs who is crafty, possesses excellent body control and can get himself in position to make the play. Smith-Njigba would also immediately make Gabe Davis expendable, which would be an intriguing possibility going forward.
