Buffalo Bills: 3 trade packages to go all-in on Mike Evans
By Ryan Heckman
Trade Number 3
Finally, the Bills could get a little spicy.
If they acquired Evans, then Gabriel Davis would be buried on the depth chart. Buffalo will obviously want to continue to see what they have in Khalil Shakir, along with using the newly-signed Harty and Sherfield. So, what do they do with Davis if they trade for Evans?
The easy answer is: include him in a deal for Evans, especially because they could lose him for nothing as a free agent in 2024.
Because the Bucs are getting a younger player with some future upside, still, they’d send Evans and a fifth rounder to Buffalo in exchange for Davis and a sixth.
Davis is still just 24 years old, giving him a ton of time to develop into the budding star Bills fans once thought they saw. But, waiting around for that development shouldn’t be in the cards for the Bills. They need someone to come in right away and be able to take pressure off of Diggs, giving Josh Allen another concrete option on the outside.
What Evans has done in nine seasons should not be overlooked. He’s been such a quiet, consistent player, putting up over 1,000 receiving yards in every single season as a pro. Adding him to this team could be the difference between an early playoff exit and a Super Bowl, so Beane should go get it done.
