Buffalo Bills free agent signings who could lose their job: David Quessenberry, G
If you did a little search on Twitter, simply typing in “David Quessenberry,” you might start to feel bad for the guy. Scrolling through some of the comments made by Bills fans over the past year, you’ll find that they aren’t too kind.
The 32-year-old is nothing more than a warm body on this roster who can take over in a pinch, but shouldn’t be counted on for more than just that. If he’s needed to fill in as a starter, the Bills’ run game is going to suffer big time.
Going into the offseason, the Bills needed to add offensive line depth anyways. There should be no doubt that Buffalo will add talent there in the upcoming draft. To find a more capable backup should be priority, in fact. Quessenberry gave up four sacks while playing only 247 pass-blocking snaps last year, and within those snaps he also allowed 18 pressures.
General manager Brandon Beane has to do whatever he can to improve the depth up front during the draft, especially considering protecting his quarterback means more after watching the mistakes pile up last season. Quessenberry “ain’t it,” as the kids might say, and should be on the lookout for losing his job come draft weekend.
