Buffalo Bills free agent signings who could lose their job: Trent Sherfield, WR

The Bills’ receiving room is an interesting one. Beyond Stefon Diggs, Gabriel Davis and Khalil Shakir, it could quite honestly be a toss-up for who takes the next spot. When Buffalo signed Deonte Harty, he became the likely candidate to take on the WR4 position. But, it could also end up being someone like KeeSean Johnson or the newly-signed Trent Sherfield.

The 27-year-old Sherfield is now on his fourth team since entering the league back in 2018 and is coming off his best year as a pro, catching 30 passes for 417 yards and a pair of touchdowns in 2022. Still, that’s far from a consistent producer.

Heck, the Bills might even draft a receiver that takes over either Davis or Shakir’s role at this point. They’re starving for another playmaker to pair with Diggs. Any receiver not named Diggs might see themselves fall down the depth chart one or two spots after this year’s draft.

But, Sherfield is certainly in danger of doing so. There are some interesting names to be had within the second and third, and even fourth rounds, for the Bills. They likely wouldn’t spend a first-round pick on a wideout, but in the next three rounds, plenty of wideouts would be more than capable of moving up past Sherfield on the depth chart.
