Buffalo Bills: 3 trade packages to land Dalvin Cook
By Ryan Heckman
Trade Number 3
This last trade is fairly simple. The Bills wouldn’t have to give up any players, nor would they have to give up more than just one draft pick in this year’s class. Instead, Buffalo would merely offer the Vikings a pair of fourth-round picks; one this year, and one in next year’s draft.
Cook still has three years remaining on his original 5-year deal he signed with Minnesota, and this year he’ll count over $14 million against the cap. That would be a tough number for the Bills to swallow, but with what we’ve seen proven about the salary cap, it can be done.
We’ve seen, time and time again, other teams prove that the salary cap “is a myth,” as they say. Beane is more than capable of continuing his handiwork in order to better position the Bills, financially speaking.
Next year, Cook could be cut with only $3 million in dead cap. Speaking of which, he could save the Vikings $8 million by cutting him this year, and that’s why Minnesota likely won’t get an enormous return for his services. The fact that they could easily part with him and save money means that they probably won’t be able to get a premium trade return.
Would the Bills be willing to make a move like this? One can only hope.
