Free agent the Buffalo Bills should avoid: David Montgomery

The Buffalo Bills are going to have a decision to make at running back this offseason as Devin Singletary, who has led the team in rushing attempts the past few seasons, is set to be a free agent. It remains to be seen if he will be back but it would appear the team is set to move in another direction.

The logical direction would be leaning more on James Cook and pairing him with a veteran running back that can take over some of the work Devin Singletary had handled. One veteran running back that should be available is David Montgomery.

Over the past four seasons, Montgomery has finished with at least 200 rushing attempts each season with the Chicago Bears. However, he wasn’t very effective with that workload as he only surpassed 1,000 rushing yards once and has a career average of 3.9 yards per attempt.

Montgomery also hasn’t been very durable over the past few years as he has missed at least one game each of the past three seasons. The Buffalo Bills should avoid this one free agent this offseason.
