Detroit Lions
Last year, Jamaal Williams led the league in rushing touchdowns with 17 but is now set to be a free agent. Meanwhile, D’Andre Swift who was the second round pick by the Lions in 2020 had another underwhelming season that was derailed by injuries as he played in only 14 games and had 542 rushing yards and 389 receiving yards with eight total touchdowns.
The Lions almost certainly will want to bring Jamaal Williams back as he seems to be the perfect player to pair with Swift, who can be a dynamic playmaker but is a player that needs to have his touches limited.
The challenge will be that Jamaal Williams should be highly sought after in free agency. If the Lions can’t bring back Williams, then Devin Singletary could be a good replacement.
While he isn’t exactly the same type of runner, and certainly isn’t the physical back that Williams is, he can be the type of player that can get around 15 carries a game and keep offenses on track. This would keep Swift fresh and help maximizes his impact as a runner and receiver.
