Buffalo Bills Mock Draft: A trade for Derrick Henry creates madness

Once more, the Bills go back to the offensive line. Should they end up parting with Morse, and of course need to replace Saffold, then Buffalo has to add more talent up front. This time, in the fifth round, they go with North Carolina State’s Chandler Zavala, a big, powerful guard.

Zavala stands roughly 6-foot-4 and weighs around 325 pounds, giving him great size and mass at the position. He is a strong player, with a very solid anchor. His best comes in the run game, where he uses his leg drive to sustain blocks and move opposing defensive linemen well.

With great length and above average hand size, Zavala has many desirable features for a starting guard in the NFL. His biggest weakness lies in overall agility and foot quickness. He is fairly one-dimensional and doesn’t move out of his own box too well, which is why securing his man with those strong hands is pivotal. Once he latches on, it’s hard to get away from him.

Zavala might not come in and start right away, but in the fifth round, he is an excellent value and someone who could come in and compete throughout the summer months. If anything, he offers great depth even as a young player.
