6 winners of the 2023 NFL Combine the Buffalo Bills should be excited for
Jon Gaines II
The offensive line as a whole is going to be a point of emphasis this offseason for the Buffalo Bills but in particular, the guard position is the one that the team has the best chance to make notable changes with Rodger Saffold set to be a free agent. If the Buffalo Bills want to get more athletic at the position then Jon Gaines II out of UCLA could be a good fit.
Gaines ranked near the top in a number of workouts among offensive linemen at the NFL Combine including:
- 40-yard dash: 5.01 seconds (6th)
- 10-yard split: 1.73 seconds (3rd)
- Vertical: 32.5″ (3rd)
- Broad Jump: 9’6″ (3rd)
- 3-cone Drill: 7.31 seconds (1st)
- 20-Yard Shuttle: 4.45 seconds (1st)
He also is an experienced offensive lineman that has played a number of positions during his time at UCLA from guard to center to even right tackle. However, he has played the most at right guard and while he is not the most powerful offensive lineman, he is a player the Buffalo Bills could use as a pulling guard on run plays and getting out front of the running back.
