As free agency approaches, Buffalo Bills fans have to wonder what exactly the plan might be for impending free agent safety Jordan Poyer.

As one of the team’s best players and leaders, Poyer enters free agency with a real possibility of finding a new home.

The Bills are strapped for cash, leaving general manager Brandon Beane with some tough decisions as he navigates the salary cap. On top of that, Poyer’s age doesn’t exactly help his case. He’s 31 and will turn 32 in April, and played last year through a torn meniscus.

Regardless, the Bills and Bills Mafia would love to have him back for at least another season or two. But, that doesn’t mean Poyer hasn’t thought about the possibility of playing elsewhere in 2023. The veteran safety recently opened up about free agency and the idea of leaving Buffalo, via his podcast.

Buffalo Bills safety Jordan Poyer sees a real possibility of leaving this offseason, especially if he could play somewhere warm

“A lot of people ask me, ‘Oh, if it wasn’t Buffalo, where would you go?’ I kind of ponder the question every once in a while. I would love to go to a state that doesn’t take half of my money,” he told the world.

Something every great player will consider, especially when hitting a certain age, is going somewhere simply to win, period. Now, staying in Buffalo would give Poyer a great chance to do that, of course. The Bills will still likely be set up for a Super Bowl run in 2023, but if Poyer’s wife had her way, they’d be headed somewhere a bit warmer than Buffalo.

His wife, model Rachel Bush, responded to a fan via Instagram at one point, asked about Poyer playing for the Cowboys.

“He knows I wanna live in Texas,” she wrote back.

Dallas could certainly be a possibility for Poyer, should he want to win elsewhere. The Cowboys’ roster has plenty of pieces in place to go out and win, and he’d only add to that talented defense featuring Micah Parsons, Trevon Diggs and company.

For now, we can only wait out the next two weeks before we see what happens between Poyer and the Bills. Will he stick around? Could he head for a warmer climate to please his wife? We’ll see.
