Houston Texans

The first three teams are ones that were either playoff teams last season or believe they have legitimate chances to make the playoffs this upcoming season. However, the Houston Texans are probably not in that category and it is going to be a few seasons to rebuild the franchise.

Even if that is the case, a player like Tremaine Edmunds could make perfect sense as a player to help begin building that foundation for sustained success. When considering the fact that the Texans hired DeMeco Ryans as their head coach, it would stand to reason that finding a really good linebacker would be a top priority for Ryans.

Ryans was a long-time linebacker in the NFL, with the Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles, before moving on to coaching after he retired. He recently was defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers where he had one of the best linebackers currently in the NFL in Fred Walker.

As for the Texans, they do still have last year’s starting middle linebacker Christian Kirksey under contract for the 2023 season. However, he is entering the final year of his contract and will be 31 years old this season.

If the Houston Texans want a long-term answer at the position that DeMeco Ryans can build his defense around, then Tremaine Edmunds is a free agent that will probably be one of their top targets this offseason.
