4 reasons for optimism about the Buffalo Bills in 2023

The Chiefs and Bengals aren’t getting better
Finally, other AFC contenders are facing plenty of tough offseason decisions. The Kansas City Chiefs tackle Orlando Brown Jr. reportedly wanted to be paid like the best tackle in the league last offseason, declining a 6-Year $139 Million contract which would include the highest signing bonus and the average salary for a left tackle ever.
The Chiefs will struggle to fit him under the cap. JuJu Smith-Schuster opted to sign a smaller $3.75 Million contract with the Chiefs, which he certainly outperformed. Given that Christian Kirk commanded a $20 Million contract last offseason in a stronger receiver class, Smith-Schuster could easily become too pricy for the Chiefs.
The Bengals won’t fair much better than the Chiefs. They will have to reset the quarterback market by handing Joe Burrow a massive contract north of $50 Million. 3 of their top 4 Defensive Backs (Bates, Bell, Apple) are all free agents as well. Though they have a decent amount of cap space now, they won’t be able to make major additions like they did 2 seasons ago.
