5 difficult decisions Buffalo Bills will need to make this offseason
Can the Buffalo Bills re-sign Tremaine Edmunds or do they use the franchise tag?
One player that will probably be one of the most sought-after free agents this offseason is linebacker Tremaine Edmunds. He was the Bills’ second first round pick in 2018 after they drafted Josh Allen seventh overall, and he has been their starting middle linebacker ever since.
He has had at least 100 total tackles every season and made two Pro Bowls (2019 and 2020) and even though he has been in the league for five years he will only be 25 years old at the start of the 2023 season.
He is a unique player with his size and speed combination and does a lot for the middle of this Bills’ defense.
If the Buffalo Bills are unable to agree to a long-term deal before free agency, they would still have the option to use the franchise tag. However, the salary for linebackers on the franchise tag is above $20 million and if the Bills decided to go this route it would be tough to fit into the salary cap and almost certainly limit them to doing much else with the roster.
