Buffalo Bills Free Agent: Samaje Perine

The final running back is one that the Buffalo Bills played against in their final game in Samaje Perine, who played the past three and half seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals. He originally was drafted by Washington in 2017 but has primarily been a backup in his career with only one season with over 100 rushing attempts.

This past season was his most productive to date with the Bengals as he had 394 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns but also was a bigger part of the passing game with 38 receptions on 51 targets for 287 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns.

While the Buffalo Bills don’t necessarily need the pass-catching threat out of the backfield with James Cook and Nyheim Hines on the roster, it does give them some flexibility in their play call and it doesn’t automatically signal its a run play when Perine is on the field.

The Buffalo Bills are likely to add a big running back this offseason but it remains to be seen if that will be in free agency or the NFL Draft. However, if it is free agency any of these four options would address the need and likely be able to be signed for a reasonable contract.
