The wide receiver position had high expectations entering this season with Gabe Davis taking over as the second wide receiver and Isaiah McKenzie and Jamison Crowder competing for the starting slot receiver position. Unfortunately, they didn’t reach the expectations, and the Bills elected to bring back veterans like John Brown and Cole Beasley to try and help improve the position.

However, one player that seemed to step up every time given the opportunity was rookie Khalil Shakir. He finished the regular season with only 10 receptions for 161 receiving yards and two touchdowns but in the playoffs had a bigger role with five receptions on seven targets for 91 yards.

It remains to be seen how they approach the wide receiver position and they could elect to bring back John Brown and Cole Beasley to compete for spots. However, based on what he showed in the playoffs, Khalil Shakir needs to be in the discussion for a starting role in 2023.
