This Bills offense doesn’t use a fullback on many occasions, but making that a habit could lead to Allen turning the ball over less. Sure, the Bills need to go out and address the offensive line. But, another way they can assist in protection up front is getting an experienced, veteran fullback like Derek Watt.

The 30-year-old has been around a while now, and he is a pro’s pro. Watt is one of the better pass-blocking backs in the league, regardless of true position. He has blocked for guys like Philip Rivers and Ben Roethlisberger for the majority of his career, so he knows the importance of keeping a future Hall of Fame quarterback upright.

Watt is not only a great pass blocker, but he can take pressure off Allen if sent out in the flats every once in a while. He will catch the ball. He can run the ball in short yardage situations. He’s as reliable as it gets at the full back position.

It’s not a sexy move, but Watt would bring yet another calming, veteran presence to help Allen stay level.
