Buffalo Bills Mock Draft: Round 3, Pick 91 – Devon Witherspoon, CB, Illinois

This next pick is one that might’ve been a bit unrealistic to take this late.

There’s some belief that Witherspoon could be selected in the late-first or early-second, but since the draft is as wacky as it is, I decided to just take him since he was there.

As mentioned previously, the Buffalo Bills have some aging defenders that might need to be replaced sooner than later.

That said, Tre’Daviouis White is still playing the game at a really high level, when he’s healthy. Having just drafted a corner last year in Kaiir Elam, it’s not a bad idea to get the defensive back room developing. That way, when the unfortunate day of having to let some of these older guys go comes, their replacements will be ready to go.

And the reason defensive backs will be so important for the Bills is because they play in a division with Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and Garrett Wilson, while also being in a conference with a plethora of talented, young quarterbacks.

It’s a passing league, so if the Buffalo Bills want to “keep up,” they’ll need the defensive backs to be able to do so.

And Devon Witherspoon is one heck of a choice.

In this season alone, Witherspoon has 3 INTs, 14 PBUs, a 92.0 PFF coverage grade (best in FBS), 29.8% completions allowed, and a 1.0 QBR against.

With how explosive the Bills are on offense, beefing up the defense should be a clear choice in the third round. Whether Witherspoon is available or not, that’s up to chance.

Whether the Bills beef up their defense here, that’s still the motive.
