This has been quite the week not only for the Buffalo Bills, but the football and sports world as a whole. Bills safety Damar Hamlin found himself in critical condition, laid up in a hospital bed, just minutes after a routine tackle on Monday Night Football.

The situation has been seen all over the world by now, with Hamlin tackling Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins and suddenly collapsing to the ground in terrifying fashion.

Since that moment, Hamlin’s health has been the biggest topic of concern amongst NFL fans and media. Monday night, he was given a breathing tube and put on a ventilator. Hamlin used 100 percent of the ventilator’s power right away, and just days later, we have a remarkable update.

Over the last 24 hours, Hamlin’s breathing tube was removed and he is now breathing on his own. Not only that, but he can communicate. Waking up and writing to the doctors, asking them if the Bills had won the game, is of course a part of this story we’ll remember forever.

Doctors telling Hamlin he “won the game of life” will go down in history as one of the most powerful statements ever given with a connection to football.

Knowing that Hamlin could communicate via written word, and more recently with his verbal words, is such a huge victory. What a miracle we’re witnessing across the nation.

Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin is communicating in multiple ways now, even on his Instagram.

In addition to communicating with his own words, Hamlin has even been seen on Instagram since his injury. Below you’ll find a post from his teammate, defensive lineman Ed Oliver, and a comment from the man himself.

Let’s just take a step back here for a minute and realize what is happening.

This young man was clinically dead on the field Monday night, before first responders performed CPR, got him to the hospital and he was given a breathing tube.

This was a situation where people could have lost a loved one far too young. Yet, he is not only communicating less than a week later, but Hamlin is cruising his Instagram account.

That is incredible!

Bills Mafia, continue to lift up Hamlin in your thoughts and prayers. This is just one more positive update in a string of many — with many more to come.
