Josh Allen for MVP, Reason No. 2: Josh Allen does it through the air and on the ground

Not only is Josh Allen in the top three for passing yards in the league, but he’s the Buffalo Bills’ second-leading rusher— first when looking at the leading ground scorer.

Now, should being second-best in rushing yards on the team equal an MVP?

Yes and no.

If Allen was an okay passer but an electric rusher, then no.

However, not only does Josh Allen lead his team in rushing touchdowns, but he’s second in rushing yards, third in the league in passing TDs, and second in the league for passing touchdowns.

Oh, and he’s only 22 yards behind Devin Singletary for the team’s lead rusher. So, by the end of the season, Josh Allen could lead his team in passing yards, passing touchdowns, rushing yards, and rushing touchdowns.

I’m no linguistics expert, but that sounds like the direct definition of most valuable to a team.

That’s why it’s important to remember the difference between someone who plays the game incredibly and the most valuable player to a team.

That’s also why there are different awards for most valuable player and offensive/defensive player of the year.
