The Buffalo Bills were able to come away with an exciting win over the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving Day. It was a game that went back and forth and neither team was really able to pull away.
However, the Bills in the closing minutes of the game made the bigger plays and would win 28-25 due to a Tyler Bass field goal in the closing seconds. When looking back at this game, there were five players in particular that stood out that helped this team get to that point and secure their eighth victory of the season.
5 Buffalo Bills who stood out against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving
Ed Oliver
The Buffalo Bills were going to need someone to step up in a game where the defense was going to be without Greg Rousseau and A.J. Epenesa and then lose Von Miller during the game. That player was Ed Oliver and he arguably had one of the best games of his entire career.
He finished the game with six total tackles, one sack, one fumble recovery, two tackles for a loss, and a safety in the third quarter which was a huge point in the game. Josh Allen had just thrown another red zone interception, which has been almost a weekly occurrence, and the momentum seemed to swing toward the Lions.
However, with Detroit backed up near their end zone, Oliver was able to get through the line and bring down Jared Goff for the safety.
Ed Oliver suffered an ankle injury in the first game of the season that seemed to slow him down over the first half of the season. In the past few weeks though he has been almost unblockable and a key part of this defensive line.
