Buffalo Bills blockbuster trade with the Los Angeles Rams

Buffalo Bills receive Cam Akers, Taylor Rapp

Los Angeles Rams receive A.J. Epenesa, 2023 fourth round pick

One trade partner that would make the most sense for the Buffalo Bills to work out a deal based on needs is the Los Angeles Rams. Last week, Albert Breer with Sports Illustrated wrote that the Rams are searching for pass rush help but could also be looking to trade away a few players, like Cam Akers and Taylor Rapp:

"The Rams’ radar is, again, up for pass-rush help, and offensive line help, too. But there could be outgoing pieces, as well. Safeties Terrell Burgess and Taylor Rapp, and running back Cam Akers, could be had, and corner David Long is another name to watch."

This one trade would address both the running back and safety position for the Buffalo Bills with the additions of Cam Akers and Taylor Rapp. Both are still on their rookie contracts with Rapp set to be a free agent after this season and Akers after 2023 which certainly helps the Bills with their salary cap situation.

Taylor Rapp is a starting safety that could step right in and start next to Jordan Poyer and solidify the safety position. As for Akers, he hasn’t made the same impact this season and has been inactive most of the year. However, he certainly has the talent to be one of the better running backs in the league and it gives the Bills a running back to pair with James Cook after this season if Devin Singletary leaves in free agency.

In return, the Buffalo Bills could offer A.J. Epenesa who similarly is on his rookie contract through next season. He is a player that has shown flashes but hasn’t been consistent this season. While the Bills would sacrifice some depth at the defensive end position, they would be able to bring back a starting safety and potentially starting running back.
