Spencer Brown misses second straight practice for Buffalo Bills ahead of Week 8
The Buffalo Bills are coming out of their bye week and probably the healthiest they have been all season. They have been forced to deal with a number of injuries to key players over the first six games but don’t have too many concerns ahead of Sunday night’s game against the Green Bay Packers.
However, one player who appears to be trending towards missing Week 8 is starting right tackle Spencer Brown. The second-year player suffered an ankle injury in the first half of the game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
That injury looked to still be an issue and he has now missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday.
Buffalo Bills have a good backup in David Quessenberry
Fortunately, for the Buffalo Bills they do have a good replacement in David Quessenberry. The Buffalo Bills signed Quessenberry as a free agent this offseason and spent a majority of the summer with the starters with Brown rehabbing from a back procedure in the offseason.
If Quessenberry does get the start in place of Spencer Brown for this game, it will be his first of the season. However, he has had two games where he has had to play over 50% of the snaps, in Week 3 against the Miami Dolphins and then Week 6 against the Kansas City Chiefs.
On both occasions, Quessenberry has done a good job stepping in as a starter and the Bills should be confident in the veteran if he starts against the Packers.
The Buffalo Bills won’t announce injury designations until tomorrow for the game against the Green Bay Packers but it would be surprising if Spencer Brown wasn’t ruled out for this game.
Spencer Brown was the only player who sat out Thursday but the Buffalo Bills did have three other players who were limited. That group included running back Taiwan Jones, wide receiver Jake Kumerow and center Mitch Morse.
