Buffalo Bills Trade Target: Cam Akers

At one point, Cam Akers looked to be on his way to being one of the top young running backs in the league. As a rookie, Akers had 625 rushing yards and 123 receiving yards with three total touchdowns in 13 games.

However, Akers suffered a torn Achillies prior to the 2022 season and hasn’t been the same running back since. He returned last year prior to the playoffs and had 113 carries over four games but only averaged 3.48 yards per attempt.

This season, Akers hasn’t looked much better and has fallen out of favor with the coaching staff. Recently, Sean McVay was quoted as saying:

"” I think … the best option for all parties … would be to explore if there’s a good situation for him with another team.”"

For any team that trades for Akers, the hope is that he can reach the potential he showed as a rookie. However, the question for the Buffalo Bills is whether or not Akers is better than what they currently have. That answer is not as clear and while the front office likely explores it, I would be surprised if this is a player they add.
