4 running backs the Buffalo Bills could target before the trade deadline

Buffalo Bills Trade Target: Christian McCaffrey
The biggest name is obviously Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey as the Panthers might be looking to acquire draft picks as they have a reset with their franchise. The Panthers already fired head coach Matt Rhule and on Monday traded Robbie Anderson to the Arizona Cardinals.
The challenge for the Buffalo Bills is that the Panthers’ asking price is reportedly very high. According to CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones, the asking price is “a first round pick or multiple draft picks (that would include a Day 2 pick).”
This could be why the Buffalo Bills haven’t been more aggressive in their pursuit of the former Pro Bowl running back. On Tuesday, Charles Robinson with Yahoo tweeted that the Bills aren’t actively pursuing McCaffrey and are more in a “monitoring mode”.
2. The whole #Bills dalliance with McCaffrey stemmed back to when Buffalo called about him in the offseason. But that never went anywhere and it was totally dead until this point in the season. Even now, the Bills are in more of a monitoring mode than anything. A “call us” mode.

There is no question that Christian McCaffrey would make the Buffalo Bills offense better but he may not necessarily improve the run game. If the Bills were to add McCaffrey it would be more to improve the passing game and that may not be the best move for them, even though he is the best running back.
