Last week, the coaching staff seemed to have a surprise for the Bills’ defense as Damar Hamlin, and not Jaquan Johnson, got the start next to Jordan Poyer. It was somewhat assumed that Johnson was ahead of Hamlin on the depth chart but it would appear he was only the backup to Jordan Poyer.

In Week 3, Jaquan Johnson got the start against the Miami Dolphins in place of Jordan Poyer and will once again get a chance to start in Week 5 as Poyer has already been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Jaquan Johnson hasn’t played much in the early stages of his career due to how durable Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde have been. However, now with both dealing with injuries this season it has opened up more opportunities for Johnson.

In the game against the Dolphins, Johnson had five total tackles and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him get close, or even surpass that total this week against Pittsburgh.
