This season Tyler Bass has seemingly been automatic, regardless of the distance. However, he unfortunately had his first miss of the season and it was not a clean kick at all. He would miss the 38-yard attempt and if he had made that field goal it could have given Buffalo the win.
Bass did make a 30-yard attempt and two extra point attempts so this shouldn’t be a serious concern but it was just a bad time to have your first miss of the season. As for Sam Martin, he had one punt that went for 31 yards that would pin the Dolphins inside the 20.

Final Grade
In the standings, the Buffalo Bills are 2-1 and essentially two games back of the Miami Dolphins. However, when considering the Bills only lost by two while missing almost half of their starting defense, their starting center, and saw numerous players leave the game at different points due to injuries, it is tough to judge this game.
The toughest part might be that the Buffalo Bills had a number of plays that have typically made that this week didn’t go their way.
One loss, particularly this loss with the circumstances, doesn’t change anything about where the Buffalo Bills might sit in the NFL. They will get starters back and are still very much Super Bowl contenders and probably should still be considered the favorites to win the AFC East.
There are no moral victories in the NFL but this is a game that the coaching staff or players shouldn’t dwell on very long or put much weight on the outcome.
