Running Back

It is time to start to shift how the running back position is viewed and what this group might be asked to do moving forward. The hope was that by adding Rodger Saffold this offseason and Spencer Brown entering his second season that the offensive line could help create better lanes for this run game.

That just isn’t the case and the Bills running backs had only 62 rushing yards in Week 3 and 43 of them came on one run by Zack Moss.

However, what the Bills did this week, and were rather effective, is short passes to Devin Singletary, James Cook, and Zack Moss. Singletary had nine receptions for 78 yards, James Cook added four for 37 yards and Zack Moss had one for six yards.

If the Bills continue to have a completion percentage over 80% on these plays and the backs average 8.64 yards per reception, there is no reason to try to make it a point to establish the run.
