Minnesota Vikings
There were plenty of surprising results from Week 1, like the tie between the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans, but there may not have been a bigger surprise than the blowout win by the Minnesota Vikings over the Green Bay Packers. The Packers are expected to be one of the top teams in the NFC and considered one of the favorites to represent the conference in the Super Bowl.
However, they didn’t look like that against the Minnesota Vikings who looked like the better team in every phase of the game. The notable performance was by wide receiver Justin Jefferson who had eight receptions for 184 yards and two receiving touchdowns and he was wide open seemingly the entire game.
It was the defense though that stood out to me as the Vikings pass rush led by Za’Darius Smith and Danielle Hunter kept Aaron Rodgers off balance for most of the game. If the Vikings are able to continue to do this, they should be able to minimize the struggles at cornerback. This is something the Buffalo Bills wanted to do with the moves they made this offseason and it paid off against the Rams in Week 1.
