Buffalo Bills sack Matthew Stafford seven times without blitzing

After Josh Allen, the big headline from this game was the improved pass rush the Buffalo Bills defense showed against the Rams. The team would finish with seven sacks with Von Miller leading the way with two with A.J. Epenesa and Jordan Phillips not far behind with each recording 1.5 sacks.

The seven sacks is an impressive number but how they were able to do it is probably the more newsworthy note. According to Next Gen Stats, the Bills were able to record all seven of their sacks with four or fewer pass rushers, which is tied for the fourth-most in a game since 2016.

The Buffalo Bills under Sean McDermott and Leslie Frazier have been a team that tries to get pressure with just their front four and limit the number of times they blitz. They hope to get consistent pressure with their depth and the way they rotate players and if Week 1 is an indication the moves they made in the offseason might help them achieve that.
