The Buffalo Bills made a statement in Week 1 with their blowout win over the Los Angeles Rams by the final score of 31-10. However, this game was closer than the final score would indicate with it tied at 10 at halftime.

The Bills’ offense though came out to score 21 unanswered points after halftime. Meanwhile, the defense didn’t give up much of anything over the final two quarters to help this team close out the game. These are grades for Week 1 for each position group for the Buffalo Bills.

Quarterback

It was nearly a perfect game from Josh Allen and he showed against the Los Angeles Rams why he is considered one of the favorites to win the MVP award. He finished the game completing 26 of 31 passes, for an incredible completion percentage of 84%, with 297 passing yards, 56 rushing yards, four total touchdowns, and two interceptions.

While the interceptions were a concern, there was really only one that was his fault. The first interception was a throw to Isaiah McKenzie that hit the wide receiver in the hands but McKenzie struggled to catch it cleanly and it was pulled away by the Rams’ defender.

The second interception was a poor decision by Josh Allen as he tried to find Jamison Crowder coming across the field but was late. This allowed Troy Hill to jump in front and secure the interception.

Even with the offense struggling in the second quarter, it always seemed like Josh Allen was in complete control and it was only a matter of time before everything started clicking again. It did in the second half and the Bills were able to cruise to their win.
