Zack Moss, and not James Cook, the compliment to Devin Singletary
Since the NFL Draft, James Cook was expected to be the compliment to Devin Singletary in the backfield for the Buffalo Bills. The former University of Georgia was one of the best pass catching running backs in this year’s class and he was expected to be a chess piece that Ken Dorsey could move around.
However, it was really Zack Moss in this game that was the compliment to Singletary to the point that he seemed to be the back getting more work in the second half.
Moss is entering his third year in the league and has looked great during training camp and preseason after a lackluster season last year. In this game against the Rams, he ran hard but was also surprisingly very involved in the passing game with six receptions. He was behind only Stefon Diggs in targets in this game.
The only negative of his performance was a fumble late in the game but at that point, the game was already decided.
The question now is was those targets supposed to go to Cook but he saw his snaps limited after the fumble on his first carry or was Moss part of the game plan all along? This should be an interesting storyline to watch moving forward.
