Zack Moss

One name that has been rumored to be available in a trade is running back Zack Moss. According to Pro Football Network’s Mike Kaye, there have been “rumblings” about the Bills’ third-year running back being available. However later on Monday, Aaron Wilson tweeted that the odds of the Bills trading him are ‘zero’.

On the surface, the trade for Zack Moss makes some sense for the Buffalo Bills. The team is not a heavy run offense and already has Devin Singletary and James Cook at the top of their depth chart.

They also have typically only had two running backs active for games so if they were to keep Moss, the coaching staff would need to adjust their game day rosters to account for the extra running back.

While the coaching staff will need to make some adjustments, the running back position is very well balanced with Zack Moss as part of a three person committee with Singletary and Cook. He is the best short-yardage running back the team has, does a good job picking up blitzes and he is under contract for two more years.

If the Bills were to trade Moss and then lose Devin Singletary in free agency after the season, they would find themselves in a similar situation they have the past few offseasons by having to address the running back position.

Unless the Buffalo Bills get some incredible trade offer that they can’t refuse, it doesn’t make sense for the team to trade Zack Moss.
