Ed Oliver

One of the most talked about players during training camp for the Buffalo Bills has been defensive tackle Ed Oliver. The former first round pick has been a starter since about midway through his rookie season and over the past two years has played at a level that would be good but maybe not great.

This season, he looks poised to have a breakout season with the addition of Von Miller but also because of DaQuan Jones. By playing the big defensive tackle next to Oliver, it should create winnable one-on-one matchups that will allow Oliver to do what he does best and that is getting behind the line of scrimmage and make plays.

One potential reason that Ed Oliver may not make the Top 100 is that the Buffalo Bills limit the snaps of their defensive linemen. He has played only about 55% of the snaps the past two years and this is by design for the coaching staff to try and keep players fresh.

He could significantly improve this season but with the limited snaps, it could limit his stat line and hold him back from being in discussion among the league’s best at his position.
