The Buffalo Bills have one of the best safety duos in the NFL and that certainly appears to be the case as Micah Hyde was ranked 50th among the NFL Network’s Top 100 players. The other half of the safety duo, Jordan Poyer, was only five spots ahead of him at 45.

Poyer joined the Buffalo Bills the same year as Hyde in 2017 and over the years has been an integral part of this secondary. One of the reasons that Hyde and Poyer are one of the top safety duos in the league is that they compliment each other so well.

Both play to the other player’s strengths and are just well-rounded safeties that can do anything a defense would want from the players at the position.

In his five seasons with the Bills, Jordan Poyer has had at least 93 tackles every season, two or more interceptions every year, and two or more sacks in four of five seasons.

This past season was one of his best as he had 93 total tackles, five interceptions, nine passes defended, and three sacks. He finally received some postseason recognition and was named first-team All-Pro, which was his first All-Pro or Pro Bowl nomination in his career.

Is this the final year Jordan Poyer is with the Buffalo Bills?

One of the big questions looming over the Buffalo Bills is whether or not this is the final year that Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde will be the team’s starting safeties. While Hyde has two more years on his contract, Poyer is entering the final year of his deal.

At the beginning of training camp, Jordan Poyer made it clear that he wants to stay in Buffalo and is looking for a new deal. However, general manager Brandon Beane is trying to figure out how to build the best possible roster with limited cap space and a new contract for Poyer may not be able to fit into that space.

The Buffalo Bills typically don’t negotiate contracts during the season so fans should have their answer in the next few weeks if Jordan Poyer is going to remain in Western New York past this season.
