4 Buffalo Bills who could secure their roster spot against Denver Broncos
Matt Araiza
The position battle at punter has been more competitive than initially thought as Haack had a down year last season and Araiza was a draft pick by the Buffalo Bills. It appears that Haack has been much better than he showed last year and is certainly in the discussion.
However, the position battle could, and probably should, be wrapped up after this preseason game.
Last week, Araiza had an impressive 82-yard punt that had everyone talking but in addition to that, he held all the field goal attempts for Tyler Bass.
The reason that Araiza could secure the position after the second preseason game is that the coaching staff may want to give the rookie as much experience in the final preseason game, both punting and holding field goal attempts, as possible and not have to split the work between two players.
When the Bills had Tyler Bass competing with Stephen Hauschka for the starting kicker position two years ago, the team made the decision a few weeks before the final cuts to give him the job and the additional practice time. It could be a similar situation here and Araiza could win the job with another good game on Saturday.
