7 quick thoughts from Buffalo Bills preseason win over the Colts
Buffalo Bills smart to keep almost all starters out of the first preseason game
While it was known that Josh Allen would not be playing on Saturday against the Indianapolis Colts, there were some questions about what other starters might sit out for this game. That was answered early as almost the entire starting offense and defense would sit this game.
The only players who potentially could be a starter that played were rookie cornerbacks Kaiir Elam and Christian Benford. If Tre’Davious White is not able to return for Week 1, then one of those two players would get the start at cornerback opposite Dane Jackson.
Even in the early part of the preseason, teams have seen key players suffer significant injuries, like the New York Jets’ Zach Wilson. The Bills are a veteran team that at this point should not be opening any starters up to potential injuries in games that don’t have an impact on the outcome of the season.
