The next player is one that has looked good in training camp and the Buffalo Bills may try to find a way to get him on the 53-man roster. However, it might be a challenge and they could look to see what the market might be for tight end Tommy Sweeney.

Sweeney was a seventh round pick in 2019 by the Buffalo Bills and would get a chance the first few weeks of his rookie season to start due to a number of tight ends being injured during training camp. He would eventually move down the depth chart once those players, like Dawson Knox, returned.

He would then miss the 2020 season due to a foot injury before training camp and when he was about to return developed myocarditis after having COVID-19. This past season, Sweeney returned and settled into the role as the number two tight end.

However, the Bills brought in O.J. Howard this offseason and Sweeney has seemingly moved down even further down the depth chart and is the third tight end on the roster. The Bills have typically not kept three tight ends and this could mean the Bills are forced to release Sweeney during roster cutdowns.

If Tommy Sweeney plays well during the preseason games, there could be teams looking to add at the position and with Sweeney entering the final year of his rookie contract, he has a reasonable contract that could be attractive to a team.
