Tommy Sweeney, Quintin Morris with impressive catches

During practice, two of the top highlights came from tight ends Tommy Sweeney and Quintin Morris. Sal Capaccio of WGR550 details both plays from the tight ends on Wednesday:

"“First, quarterback Case Keenum fired a pass to Quintin Morris as he was running across the field. The pass was a bit high and behind Morris, but the second-year player somehow was able to bring it in as he jumped and turned his body with his back basically parallel to the ground. Morris then fell to the grass in that same position. There were several “ooohs” and “aaahs” from the crowd as it happened. Later, in 11-on-11 red zone work, Keenum threw another ball, this time to Tommy Sweeney, who was heading towards the back corner of the end zone. Sweeney had to turn to his back shoulder to catch it, while having Siran Neal draped on him. The fourth-year tight end not only turned but had to rise up and make the grab, then fell down in bounds for the touchdown.”"

Tommy Sweeney is entering the final year of his rookie contract and all reports have seemingly been that he is having an excellent training camp. There haven’t been as many reports about Quintin Morris but coming out of college last year he was viewed as an athletic tight end that could make an impact in the passing game down the road.

However, it remains to be seen whether the Buffalo Bills have room on the 53-man roster for either player. The team added O.J. Howard this offseason who appears to have a roster spot locked up along with Dawson Knox.

Last year, the Bills kept only two tight ends on the 53-man roster with Reggie Gilliam serving as that third tight end. The fact the offense seems to want to be more versatile in the formations they use, the coaching staff may want to keep Sweeney in addition to the other tight ends if they plan on more two-tight end sets this season.
