No decision on how much cornerbacks will play Week 1

For most of training camp, it was assumed that if Tre’Davious White is not ready to play Week 1, the Buffalo Bills would have Dane Jackson and Kaiir Elam as their starting cornerbacks. That still may happen but as of late Christian Benford has made it a competition.

Benford, who was drafted in the sixth round by the Bills, has been moving up the depth chart during camp and has been getting reps with the starters. On Wednesday, defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier said that it is possible that all three cornerbacks play against the Indianapolis Colts as they continue to try and evaluate the players, according to Josh Reed.

If there was one cornerback who wouldn’t play, it probably would be Dane Jackson. He was the starter for the second half of last season in place of Tre’Davious White and the coaching staff should have a good idea of where he is currently.

I would imagine though the Bills coaches will want to get the rookies as many snaps as possible during the preseason. It is seeming more and more likely that either Elam or Benford will play at least some against the Los Angeles Rams.
