Punter Battle Update
The Buffalo Bills have a position battle for the next punter between last year’s starter Matt Haack and sixth round draft pick Matt Araiza. While the battle likely will be decided by who punts better, being the holder for Tyler Bass is a big part of the competition.
This has been a discussion because Matt Araiza didn’t have to hold for field goals in college so doesn’t have as much experience as Haack. However, it seems Araiza has picked it up quickly as he was the holder for an extra point and a 52-yard field goal for Bass on Friday night with Bass making the field goal.
It will be interesting to see how the coaching staff approaches this position battle and if they try to make a decision early, especially if Araiza looks to be the player to win the spot. If the Buffalo Bills pick Matt Araiza early, it will give him more time in preseason games to get live-action reps with Bass for holding on field goal attempts.
