On Saturday, the Buffalo Bills made a change at cornerback by signing free agent Jordan Miller. The team made a corresponding move by releasing Travon Fuller, who the team signed as an undrafted free agent earlier this offseason.

Jordan Miller was a fifth round pick by the Atlanta Falcons in 2019 and was released near the end of the 2020 season. He would spend last offseason with the Seattle Seahawks but would be waived prior to the 2021 season.

Miller would sign with the New Orleans Saints onto their practice squad and be called up for one game last year.

In total, Miller has appeared in 12 games with 10 of those games coming in his rookie season with the Falcons. In total, he has five total tackles and one fumble recovery.

Buffalo Bills adding size at cornerback this offseason

Jordan Miller certainly has an uphill battle to a possible spot on the 53-man roster, especially with players like Nick McCloud, Cam Lewis, and Siran Neal playing well to start training camp.

However, one thing that is noticeable this offseason compared to some past years is that the Buffalo Bills are looking for players with size at the position. Miller is 6’2″ and in college was a press cover corner, which is similar to Elam who is 6’1″.

Add in the fact that Christian Benford, who was a sixth-round pick by the Bills this offseason, is also 6’1″ it is clear that the front office is starting to look for some of these bigger, longer cornerbacks.

Last year, among the players who played significant snaps at cornerback, Levi Wallace was the tallest at 6’0″ with Tre’Davious White, Taron Johnson, and Dane Jackson all 5’11”. The question is does this potentially mean a change to how the Buffalo Bills’ secondary is set up in terms of coverage.

In the past, the Bills have primarily been a zone coverage team but with the players added this offseason, the coaching staff may be looking for more press coverage looks in their defensive scheme.
