Siran Neal stands out in Buffalo Bills’ practice
It seems each day there is a different cornerback making plays from Nick McCloud and Cam Lewis earlier in camp to today when it was Siran Neal who stood out.
Neal has become a big part of the special teams unit since he was drafted by Buffalo in 2018 and was one of the reasons the Bills re-signed him to a three-year deal this offseason. However, he hasn’t made much of an impact on defense during his time in the NFL.
That may begin to change if practice on Wednesday is any indication. According to Sal Capaccio, Neal stood out again with his coverage, highlighting a play where he was able to break up a pass to Stefon Diggs.

As Capaccio noted, if Siran Neal can give the coaching staff more at cornerback it becomes a huge advantage for this team. The emergence of Neal could mean the Bills may not need as many cornerbacks on the 53-man roster and that could open up depth at another position.
At the time of the contract announcement, Ryan Talbot tweeted that the coaching staff wanted to get Neal more involved in defensive packages and that appears like it will happen, especially if Neal continues to play well.
