The ratings for the Buffalo Bills running backs in Madden 23 were recently released and there weren’t many surprises when looking at the overall ratings with Devin Singletary the highest overall rating on the team at 81.

He was followed by second round draft pick James Cook who has a 75 overall rating, with Duke Johnson at 73 overall, Zack Moss at 72 overall, Taiwan Jones at 70 overall, and Christian Wade at 66. The addition of Christian Wade was interesting as he was released by the Bills earlier this offseason after spending three years on the practice squad.

If there was one surprise it was that Duke Johnson was given an overall rating higher than Zack Moss. While Moss had a down year last year, he has the potential to be a productive running back in the NFL and probably should have been higher than Johnson.

Buffalo Bills running backs rated near the best in the league in Change of Direction

One rating that stood out when looking at the running back position was Change of Direction, particularly for Devin Singletary and James Cook. Both players were given a rating of 92, which is tied for third best in the league. Singletary and Cook are tied with Kansas City running back Ronald Jones and behind only Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook (95 rating) and Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey.

James Cook’s ratings are particularly interesting as he has the highest speed rating (92), acceleration (93), and agility (93) among the running backs. Those were certainly expected but he isn’t the best pass-catching running back on the roster.

That running back is actually Duke Johnson, who the Bills signed as a free agent this offseason, as he has a catch rating of 73 which is one point higher than Cook’s. James Cook is expected to be a key part of the passing game for the Buffalo Bills and when looking at the different ratings like speed, acceleration, agility, and catch, he is someone that will likely be used a lot in Madden 23.
