Kicking off the Top 10 of the best players currently on the Buffalo Bills roster who will be 25 or under to start the season is a player who just joined the team this offseason. The Bills signed defensive tackle Tim Settle, who previously was with the Washington Commanders and could be in line for a career year.

Settle was a fifth round pick by Washington in 2018 and primarily was a backup player in his four seasons with the Commanders. He was stuck behind two former first round picks at the position with Washington drafting Jonathan Allen in 2017 and Daron Payne in 2018.

However, he did get a chance to play some during those four years and when he did he made an impact. In 2019 and 2020, Settle would play over 30% of the defensive snaps and had seven sacks and 12 QB hits.

He is probably one of the more well-rounded defensive tackles on the Bills because he not only does a good job rushing the passer but is a good run-stopper in the middle of that defensive line.

Tim Settle should have a bigger role with the Buffalo Bills in 2022

Unlike Washington, where they didn’t rotate much at the position, the Buffalo Bills approach the position very differently. They prefer to have four or five players at the position that they can rotate throughout the course of the game.

That is why Tim Settle has the chance at a career year with Buffalo as he should factor into that rotation. He will join a group that includes Ed Oliver, DaQuan Jones, and Jordan Phillips but it wouldn’t be surprising to see him finish second in snaps at the position because of that well-rounded skill set that he brings.

The signing of Tim Settle this offseason has the potential to be one of the best moves the Buffalo Bills made this offseason and he should be a big part of the defense in 2022.
