Shaq Lawson and Jordan Phillips

Shaq Lawson and Jordan Phillips both enjoyed career years with the Buffalo Bills in 2019 before leaving for greener pastures that didn’t turn out to be so green. They return to Buffalo in 2022 on one-year prove-it deals, although they have already established that they can be effective in Leslie Frazier’s system. The question will be, if they both have good years again, will they once again chase the money? Or stay in a place where they are comfortable and can be productive?

The Bills will likely be looking to add defensive line depth on cheap one-year deals again next year as they manage the cap. So, if Lawson and/or Phillips are looking to sign another short-term contract, they could be back in Buffalo in 2023.

But, if they are looking for a multi-year deal, look for Brandon Beane to go in another direction. It is nice to have guys familiar with the system, and Shaq and Jordan have always embraced the fans and city of Buffalo, so let’s hope that they stick around.

Verdict: Wait and See
