Jordan Poyer

Since coming to Buffalo, Jordan Poyer has continued to improve, and he and Micah Hyde have formed one of the most formidable safety tandems in the league. Poyer was initially signed to a four-year 13 million dollar deal as a free agent from Cleveland. Poyer has provided immense value on his contract and rightfully wants to be fairly compensated.

Unfortunately, this is a perfect storm working against the Buffalo Bills. Poyer reset the market for himself after becoming an All-Pro a year ago, and the safety market, in general, was reset this offseason with Minkah Fitzpatrick signing for upwards of $18 million a year. With the Bills in a challenging cap situation and Poyer turning 31, they could be in between a rock and hard place when it comes to giving their All-Pro safety a long-term deal.

Poyer is a great player, but this negotiation will boil down to money. If Poyer wants top safety money, they must let him walk. However, I could see Po sticking around if they can agree on something similar to the deal that 30-year-old Tyrann Mathieu just signed with the Saints (3 years, 28 million).

Verdict: Depends on the $$$
