There is plenty of excitement about the running back position entering the season but it is due in large part to the addition of James Cook. The Buffalo Bills second round draft pick is a dynamic player that should be a big part of this offense this season.

This excitement also seems to have resulted in Devin Singletary being overlooked and is underrated entering this season. This is not uncommon territory for Singletary during his time in the NFL and he has seemingly faced competition for snaps each year with the Buffalo Bills.

The former third round pick though ended the 2021 season showing what he is capable of and that is as a featured running back in this offense. He had double-digit carries in each of the final six games, including the playoffs, and had nine total touchdowns during that stretch.

The addition of Cook should give clearly defined roles in this backfield with the rookie handling most of the passing work while Devin Singletary can be the player who handles a majority of the rushing attempts. This should give Devin Singletary a chance to have a career year and even be the first Bills running back to surpass 1,000 rushing yards since LeSean McCoy in 2017.
