Drops

The final stat that the Buffalo Bills should try to improve this season is drops as they had the second most in the league with 36 and a drop percentage of 5.5% which was the seventh highest. Last year, the Bills had four players tied with five apiece to lead the team and those players were Stefon Diggs, Gabriel Davis, Devin Singletary, and Cole Beasley.

For some of these players, it isn’t a huge concern, like Stefon Diggs, when considering he had 164 targets last year and his drop rate was only 3.0%. Meanwhile, Cole Beasley was released this offseason and replaced by Jamison Crowder, who has had five total drops over the past two years.

Devin Singletary’s strength is not as a receiver and he stepped into that role almost out of necessity last year. He is going to be replaced in this part of the offense by James Cook and this should also help improve this total.

The final player is the one that bears the most watching this season in Gabriel Davis. The former UCF wide receiver is now expected to step into a starting role and his opportunities should grow significantly this season as the starting wide receiver opposite Diggs.

In his first two seasons in the league, Davis has eight total drops on 125 drops for a drop rate of 6.4%. While this doesn’t seem to be a high percentage these drops can certainly add up and decide whether the team continues a drive or scores points.
